Beacon Opioid Response
Navigating from Crisis to Care
Beacon provides crucial support to individuals facing substance use challenges, including overdose. Modeled after the proven National Bridge Model, Beacon connects individuals with trained Peer Support Specialists, known as Allies.
When someone experiences an overdose and seeks emergency care, an Ally is there to:
- Provide education on addiction, treatment options, and harm reduction.
- Distribute Narcan, a life-saving overdose reversal medication.
- Facilitate access to personalized treatment, including support groups and rehabilitation.
Allies offer ongoing support, with follow-up within 72 hours and weekly check-ins for up to a month. They also address other health-related needs.
Ally aims to capitalize on the critical window of opportunity following an overdose, fostering trust and encouraging treatment engagement through peer support.
